Matt Rapson
Matt is a Chartered Surveyor with a strong academic background and practical experience in residential property.
He graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2021 with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Property Development. He joined Brian Gale Surveyors in September 2021 and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) in November 2025, passing the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) on the Residential Pathway.
In simple terms, this means he has completed structured professional training and met the high standards required by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Experience and Background
Before joining BGS, Matt worked as an Undergraduate Land Negotiator during his placement year with a housebuilder in Caterham. This role gave him valuable insight into how new homes are planned, assessed and delivered.
Since joining Brian Gale Surveyors after university, Matt has developed his experience inspecting a wide range of properties across Reigate and the surrounding areas – from modern flats to older family homes.
Approach to Surveying
Matt understands that for many clients, especially first-time buyers, a survey can feel daunting. He focuses on clear, practical advice and takes time to explain:
- What he has found
- Whether it is typical for the age and type of property
- What may need repair or further investigation
- How it could affect your plans
His aim is to help clients feel informed and confident in their decisions.
Outside of Work
Away from surveying, Matt keeps active. He plays semi-professional football and also enjoys a round of golf when time allows.
